11/09/05 9:21 p.m. A 1994 Ford Crown Victoria being operated by Fribel Garcia Velazquez, 22 years, of La Plata, was traveling northbound on U.S. Rt. 301, south of Bel Alton-Newtown Road.
For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the road and entered the median where it struck a culvert and went airborne. The vehicle turned back in the northbound lanes where the driver was ejected.
Mr. Velazquez received incapacitating injuries and was flown to Washington Hospital Center, Med Star, by Maryland State Police helicopter, Trooper 2. He died on November 11, 2005 at 9:15 a.m. from injuries he sustained in the accident.
Alcohol was not a contributing factor in this accident.
