Greenwell State Park
Greenwell State Park is a 596 acre state park located on the Patuxent River in St. Mary's County, Maryland. It began, in 1971, as a 176.6 acre donation from John Philip Greenwell, Jr. and his sister Mary Wallace Greenwell. The Greenwells specifically wanted their land to be accessible to everyone, especially the mental and physically challenged. The park and its programs are maintained through the efforts of the Greenwell Foundation, Inc., working in conjunction with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. |
