On Saturday, May 15, 2004 of Chesapeake Beach, MD formerly of Upper Marlboro, MD. Beloved mother of Lynda M. and Wesley R. Cheseldine; loving grandmother of Lacey, Leanna and Wesley Cheseldine; sister of Charles M. and George V. Donaldson, Cecelia Caudill, Lois Duggan and Rita Reese and the late Edith Cheseldine. Family will receive friends at the LEE FUNERAL HOME CALVERT, P.A., 8125 Southern Maryland Blvd. (Rt. 4 and Fowler Rd.), Owings, MD on Wednesday, May 19, from 11 a.m. until service at 1 p.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD.

Claire was such a wonderful mother to Lynda and Wesley. Loving and caring through every phase of our lives. Especially when we were sick. Mom wouldn't rest until our pains would go away. She comforted us and treated our wounds and ailments with loving care throughout our childhood and even when we were all grown up. Often, when she had no money to get us gifts for Christmas, somehow she managed to have something for us under the Christmas tree.

Mom suffered so much with an abusive marriage for many years until Lynda and Wesley took mom away from all that and started a new life of happiness. Later on, Claire earned her GED Degree and got a job at the Washington Records Center in Suitland and began her journey to be independent and employed after 25 years of being a homemaker.

Soon afterwards, Claire and Lynda were able to buy their first home in Upper Marlboro MD. It sure was a monumental achievement after so many traumatic years of having nothing and finally, her dream came true.

Claire later on joined a bowling league and started bowling duck pins at the Suitland Bowling Center. She really enjoyed the thrill of getting that "Strike" and she did her best to bowl a good game for the team. Although, she struggled with keeping her average up, she never gave up. On April 28, 1998, she miraculously bowled her heart out and scored high enough to win the 4th Level Award at Suitland (Mount Calvery Mixed League). A feat that is not easy to accomplish for many skilled bowlers. She was awarded with a ring and a plaque to commemorate her accomplishment for obtaining a high game and set. She was so proud of achieving this milestone and we were all so very proud of her.

Regrettably, that was her final season of bowling. She had to give it up due to many ailments that prevented her from activities that she loved to do. But, she had many more times of enjoyable activities such as listening to her favorite music, playing Bingo and going to Atlantic City and Dover Delaware to play the slots. Mostly, she stayed home and loved to spend time with Lynda and Wesley when he came to visit.

We were so happy to see her enjoy all the pleasures in life later on in life and she deserved every bit of it and more. We were so blessed to have such a wonderful, loving and caring mother. We love you dearly and will miss you until our time comes to see you in Heaven.
