On September 11th our world changed forever. Within minutes America scurried to help. When my husband and I re-opened Cone Island, the ice cream store we run, we changed the tip jar to a collection jar for the red cross. On a regular weekeday this time of year we may make $5.00, as people toss in their small change. That first Wednesday we made $17. Today, Sunday, we made tripple what the tip jar would have... $75.00. What a great start. We wanted to thank the fine people of Calvert County, the tourists, and everyone who gave to the red cross this week, and everyone who will in the coming weeks. We will leave the collection jar out untill the last day of the season, Oct. 28. If any good can come of this, it's watching America come together to help eachother through this. People of Calvert County, this week you helped my family grow a little stronger through your generousity, and kind words at our window while we worked, when our hearts really wearn't in our work. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
