On Thursday, December 22, 2016, Mary Cornellia Harvey of Waldorf, Maryland quietly transitioned to eternal life while at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, La Plata, Maryland. Mary was born on October 16, 1947 in Bel Alton, Maryland; the daughter of the late Mary A. Harvey and the late Leonard S. Winters. She attended Port Tobacco Elementary School as a child and later went on to attend Bel Alton High School.

Mary was blessed with four children Jacqueline, Lawrence, Yolanda and the late Jonathan. She loved children, so it was only natural that she became an in home Child Care Provider. Mary enjoyed so many simple things in life. She loved to go for rides in the car often joking to "ride me until I sweat." She also enjoyed a good game of cards, especially Spades, attending Bingo, and completing crossword puzzles. She was also a fan of the Washington Redskins. Family was important to Mary and the time she spent with them brought much joy to her life.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son Jonathan, sister Thelma and brother Joseph. She is survived by her children Jacqueline Coombs, Lawrence Harvey and Yolanda Livers, sons-in-law, Darrell and Todd, daughter-in-law, Lisa, grandchildren Timeka, Stephon, Erracona, Trayzon, Rarday, Ya'Daysha, Jamesha, and Jalesha, grandchildren-in-law, Trisha Harvey and Joseph Murray, great grandchildren Jonathan, Jonah, Jabari, Andrew and Cordell. Mary also leaves to cherish her memory siblings, James T. Harvey Sr. "Tommy," William Richard Harvey "Bone," Gertrude Elizabeth (Harvey) Winter, James Anthony Harvey "Jimmy," Betty Ann Harvey, Charles Harrison Yates "Baby-Boy," Catherine Deloris Sherman "Baby-Girl," Norman Ignatius Harvey "Ice Man," and Harry Jerome Harvey, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her viewing will be held from 9am until time of service 11am, Saturday, December 31, 2016 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, Maryland. Arrangements by Thornton Funeral Home.
