Annie May Howard, 96, of La Plata, Maryland died January 23, 2020 at Sagepoint Senior Living Center in La Plata, Maryland. May worked at SMECO, Garetson's Jewelers, Schwien's Motorcycles, and Southern Maryland Novelty. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church "Piney Parish," NARFE Chapter 1972, Civista Auxiliary, and Potomac Heights Senior Club. She also enjoyed Piney's Labor Day picnics where she made potato salad and sold 50/50 raffle tickets for their silent auctions, going on trips with her Senior Club, playing cards with friends and family, and visiting her condo in Ocean City. She was a fighter, having beat cancer three times.

She was the daughter of John Samuel Vernon and Grace (Hamilton) Vernon. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Elsie Richards, Clark Vernon, Ritchie Vernon, Little John Vernon, and Sam Vernon. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Howard and her brother, Charles Vernon and his wife Hattie. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews and her current and past caregivers, Gayle Johnson, Sharlene Keys, Catherine Knott, and Pat Gross.

Visitation on Sunday, February 2, 2020 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with Prayers at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Additional visitation on Monday, February 3, 2020 from 10AM until time of Funeral Service at 11AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church "Piney Parish," 4535 Piney Church Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20602.
