On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, Zachary Taylor Mudd passed away, in Los Angeles, at the age of 42. Zachary was the beloved son of John E. Mudd (Tina) and Victoria A. Heeren (Dennis). He was the brother of Alexis A. Mudd, Sarah Capezio (Brian), John Patrick Mudd, Matthew Spalding (Grace), Ashley Heeren, and Kyle Heeren. Zachary also leaves behind many nephews and nieces.

Zachary was born at Stag Hall in Port Tobacco, Maryland, on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1978. Following his birth, Zac and his dad promptly sat down to watch a football game. He was raised in Charles County until graduation from La Plata High School in 1996. Zac participated in traditional activities like Little League Baseball, Cub/Boy Scouts, had a stint playing trumpet in band, ran LPHS cross country, went to Boys' State, recognized in a Renaissance program for gifted artists, Honor Society (some of the time), and JROTC program. He was eager to join the US Marine Corps at age 17. With the Marine Corps, he was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Bosnia; Kuwait; finally stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. He lived in Los Angeles following his honorable discharge from the service in 2000.

Zac was a talented artist. He was passionate about painting and mixing music/DJing. He was always open-minded, forward thinking, and had a quirky sense of humor. His creative nature sparked many ideas, hopes, and dreams. Zac was a loyal friend and will forever remain in each of our hearts in a special way.

As a living tribute to Zac, his family has arranged for trees to be planted in a National Forest in California. As the old English proverb goes, "He that plants trees loves others beside himself." That describes Zac's true character. He befriended so many along the way that we think planting a grove might please him.
