David George Hartlove, Jr., 93, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away at his home, with his loving family by his side, on June 19, 2012. He was born in Baltimore, MD on November 23, 1918. David was the son of David G. Hartlove, Sr. and Catherine (Hoffman) Hartlove.

He served in the U.S. Navy from September 1936 until January 1959, served in World War II and the Korean War, retired as CWO/W4. He served on many different ships throughout his career but the USS Yorktown holds the most memories which he served with his brother Joe. Later, Dave became a Real Estate Broker opening his own business, Hartlove Realty. He was a Prince George's County Councilman for 8 years, a member of the Board of Trade, Lion's Club and Knights of Columbus.

Dave received numerous recognitions for his community service but his most cherished was his "Assisi Shining Knight" award that he received for establishing a local battered woman's home in early 1970's.

Aside from his parents, David was predeceased by his brothers Joseph Hartlove, William Hartlove, and his sister Catherine Johnson.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy "Eileen" Hartlove; his children, David G. Hartlove, III, of Kent Island, MD, Mary K. LoBianco and her husband, Greg of Waldorf, MD, Robert A. Hartlove and his wife, Geri of Ephrata, PA, Patricia L. Platt of Annapolis, MD, Margaret A. Coulter and her husband, John of Millersville, MD, and Nancy L. Hartlove-Carey and her husband, Joseph of Huntingtown, MD; his 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; and his sister, Mary Lou Barrett of Townson, MD.

Family and friends will be received for David's Life Celebration on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 5-8PM, with prayers at 7PM, at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. There will be a Mass on Monday, June 25, 2012, 10AM, at Immaculate Conception Church, 28297 Old Village Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659. Father Keith Woods will officiate. Interment will immediately follow to Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, MD 20735.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons Danny Adams, Jason Platt, Matt Hartlove, Jeff Coulter, Alan Hartlove, Greg Coulter, Christopher Carey, and Dennis Hartlove.
