Deacon Albert Eugene Swann, Sr., 67, (affectionately known as "Scottie") became absent from the body and present with the Lord on Friday, February 22, 2013. Scottie was born on August 2, 1945 in Nanjemoy, Maryland to the late Lillian Swann and the late Oscar Posey.

He was educated in the Charles County public school system graduating from Pomonkey High School in 1963. Scottie began his government career in April 1966 as a Propellant Handler on a temporary appointment at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, Maryland. Scottie was drafted by the United States Army in May 1966 and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in May 1968. A month after his discharge, he continued on with his government career at the Naval Ordnance Station. Scottie left his career at Indian Head after being selected for a position at the United States Bureau of the Census, Foreign Trade Division from which he retired in December 2001 after 35 years of Government Service.

After retiring, Scottie went to work for Colony Farms in Accokeek, Maryland. He worked there for 11 years.

Scottie committed his life to the lordship of Jesus Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of the Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully until his health began to decline. He was faced with a lot of challenges during his illness but yet he never complained. He served on the Trustee Board, was the Vice-Chairman of the Deacon Board, President of the Male Chorus and Senior Choir and a member of the Devotion Team where he ushered in the spirit of the Lord on Sunday mornings.

Scottie was also a member of the Gospel Soul Seekers and held the positions of Business Manager, Treasurer and was one of the Lead Singers. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan. He also had a great passion for bowling and loved traveling, landscaping and working on his antique car and truck.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, P. Dianne Swann; four brothers; Robert, George, Clifton and Roy Swann; and two sisters, Genevieve and Merliene Swann.

Scottie will be greatly missed by his family and leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife of three years, Mary (Tang) Swann, who selflessly stood by his side tending to his every need; three children, Albert, Jr., Eurica and A. EuRon. After his marriage to Tang, he was blessed with additional children; Stephanie, Donna, Dale, Marcieta, Michelle and Kimberely. His siblings: four sisters, Evelyn, Audrey, Renetta and Mary Everdine; three brothers, Harold, Sr., Lawrence, and Norman, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Doris "Sugar", Estelle, Irene, Doris and Margaret; brothers-in-law, Joseph, Sr., Reverend Earl Britt and Robert Taylor; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
