The Charles County Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at 4 p.m. in the County Commissioners' Meeting Room of the Charles County Government Building to consider the proposed issuance of up $53 million in general obligation bonds to finance and refinance certain public buildings, facilities, and grounds in the County.

The projects include: renovations and additions to Board of Education facilities ($550,000); the funding of a new elementary and middle school and various relocatable projects ($16.3 million); construction and renovations of facilities at the College of Southern Maryland ($200,000); improvements to other government facilities and land preservation ($114,000); stormwater retrofit projects ($1 million); purchase of a recreation facility ($6,895,400); various road improvements including Middletown Road, Acton Lane, Rosewick Road, Talbot Street, Western Parkway, and the Cross County Connector ($18,197,000); several water and sewer projects, including a water tower rehabilitation, various water main extensions, and upgrades to sewer treatment plants ($6,743,600); and a road project for American Community Properties Trust (ACPT) ($3 million).

Those individuals or representatives wishing to speak must sign in. Speaker sign up will begin 30 minutes (* hour) prior to the hearing and will end at the commencement of the hearing. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. Written comments may be submitted in lieu of oral testimony or to expand upon oral testimony.
