|If you have friends or family members, civilian or military, who are away from home helping to keep the world a safer place to live, post a note and let them, and the rest of the world, know how you feel about them. The Southern Maryland Wall of Heroes that was built at the start of hostilities in Iraq is also still on-line for your perusal.|
Bryantown Field of Honor

Date: Saturday, 16 April 2011, at 2:40 p.m.
St. Mary's Bryantown School is hosting the first in Southern Maryland, Field of Honor, a very special community event. The Field of Honor is not only a tribute to our Veterans, but also the heroes in your life (parents, teachers, children, co-workers, health care workers, law enforcement members, emergency first responders, etc.) The field will be transformed into a living display of hundreds of 3 ft. by 5 ft. flags atop 8 ft. poles. Each flag will include a personalized card and bow in honor/memory of your hero. Just imagine, walking the field listening to the wind whipping through the flags and stroking your cheeks. The opening event is happening rain or shine on May 19 at 1:00 and will include local officials, the Navy band and others yet to be determined. The school students will be available to guide you to your flag. The field will be open May 19-21, 2011 to walk through with your family day or night. You can sponsor your own flag for $36 to pick up on May 22 from 12-3 pm or have one delivered to you or your hero for $45. We will also have a corner designated as "Operation Soldier" for flags purchased in honor of our troops that we will send overseas.
