Board of Commissioners Seeks Volunteers For
Senior Property Tax Credit Review Committee

The Board of Commissioners for St. Mary’s County is seeking citizens who are interested in volunteering their time in public service to the community by serving on the St. Mary’s County Senior Property Tax Credit Review Committee.

The St. Mary’s County Senior Property Tax Credit Review Committee shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners for St. Mary’s County by;

• Interviewing recipients of the Credit and reporting those findings to the County Commissioners for St. Mary’s County; and

• Reviewing and reporting the annual fiscal impact of the Credit; and

• Making recommendations to the County Commissioners regarding the future of the Senior Property Tax Credit program; and

• Responding to any inquires from the County Commissioners for St. Mary’s County regarding the Credit.

The Committee shall be composed of five persons appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The Commissioner President and each County Commissioner for St. Mary’s County, shall appoint one member of the Committee. The members of the Committee shall be appointed on or before July 1, 2007 and each three years thereafter. The Committee will meet triennially to review the financial impact to the County of the Credit and whether the goals and objectives of the Credit program are being met.
