Volunteers Needed
Hospice Training for New Volunteers
Posted By: Calvert Hospice
Date: Wednesday, 23 January 2008, at 5:43 p.m.
Calvert Hospice will be conducting hospice training for new volunteers beginning Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 9:00am-3:00pm at the Calvert Hospice Office located at 238 Merrimac Court in Prince Frederick. Please note, this is a date change from a previous calendar release. The nine following sessions will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 11:30am-2:30pm at the Calvert Hospice office.
Calvert Hospice volunteers work with Hospice patients, bereavement support groups, in the office and at special events. The 33-hour volunteer training program includes instruction on the Hospice philosophy, the process of grief and bereavement, and the details of caring for patients in their homes. You will learn skills that will not only assist you as a Hospice volunteer, but will be useful in your everyday life.
Volunteering for Hospice is a fulfilling way to give something back to the community. Volunteers become part of the Interdisciplinary Team that provides Hospice care to those living with a terminal illness and supporting their loved ones in Calvert County.
Training is free. Please call Ann Lavezzo, Volunteer Coordinator at Calvert Hospice at (410) 535-0892 or (301) 855-1226.
