Five county commissioners shall be elected by countywide vote and
serve for four years. One
shall be a resident of the first election district, one a resident
of the second district, and one a resident of the third election
district of the county. Of the remaining candidates, the two
receiving the highest number of votes shall be selected. Each
candidate's district is listed by their name.
The
current commissioners are: David Hale (Pres-R), Wilson Parran
(VP-D), Susan Shaw (R), Linda Kelley (R) and Jerry Clark (R).

The County
Treasurer collects, has custody of and disburses County funds. Acts
as agent of the State Commissioner of Motor Vehicles for the
registration of motor vehicles.
The Clerk’s office
files, processes and maintains civil, adoption, paternity, criminal
and juvenile actions. The Clerk’s office records land deeds,
mortgages, plats, conveyances and other precious documents. The
Clerk administers oaths to County officials, Judges and
gubernatorial appointees, issues business and marriage licenses and
performs civil wedding ceremonies. The Clerk also commissions Notary
Publics.

Sheriff
The Calvert County
Sheriff is the Chief Executive Law Enforcement Officer for the
primary law enforcement agency within the territorial boundaries of
Calvert County. The Sheriff manages the crime and traffic
enforcement efforts, crime prevention and control efforts and
coordinates law enforcement activities within Calvert County. The
Sheriff has direct responsibility for court and judicial security
and overall responsibility for county jail operations.

The five Board of
Education members are elected in much the same way as the Board of
County Commissioners. The main difference is that candidates must
declare whether they are running from a district, or as an "at
large" candidate. Voting is County-wide. They are elected for a
four-year term on a staggered basis.
