Calvert Hospice provides compassionate care and comfort to enable dying patients to live their last days in peace and comfort, with dignity and respect. Hospice neither shortens nor extends life, but aims to enhance the quality of life to the end. We do this through a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to meeting the needs of the patient and family. The Hospice team includes a registered nurse, a trained and licensed social worker, a member of the clergy, a certified home health aide, and, of course, community volunteers.

The term Hospice comes from the medieval word for a place of shelter for travelers on a long or difficult journey. Today's Hospice provides care for those who are in the final phase of life's journey in the form of support for terminally ill patients and their families. The entire family is the unit of care.
Hospice of Charles County is supported by gifts and donations and we are a United Way Agency. We depend upon financial contributions from individuals or organizations in the community in order to provide Hospice services in Charles County.
