Cpl. Matthew P. Wallace
USA
Matthew was born on December 27, 1983. He loved
music, vampire novels, and making those around him laugh until they
cried. Matthew entered the Army on February 17, 2004. He attended
Basic Combat Training and 19D Cavalry Scout Advanced Individual
Training at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He reported to Ft. Hood, Texas on
June 29, 2004. He was assigned to 3rd Batallion, 67th Armor
Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized). After a
month, he was reassigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company,
2nd Brigade Combat Team, where he served as an M1068 Standard
Integrated Command Post System Carrier driver, Advanced Battle
Command Systems Operator, and Radio Telephone Operator in the
Brigade Tactical Operations Center.
Matthew deployed to Iraq in November 2005, in support of Operation
Iraqi Freedom 05-07, and conducted missions throughout the 2nd
Brigade area of operations, south of Baghdad. On April 25, 2006, he
was reassigned to Alpha Troop, 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment,
2nd Brigade Combat Team, at Forward Operating Base Charlie. In May,
he moved north with Troop to Forward Operating Base Falcon. His
primary duty position was as a gunner with qualifications for the
JAVELIN medium antitank assault weapon system.
On July 16th, Matthew's Bradley Fighting Vehicle was overtaken by an
Improvised Explosive Device (IED). He was treated at the field
hospital down range and transported to Balad for stabilization. Once
this was accomplished, he was transported to Landstuhl Regional
Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. His family flew to his side
and he passed on July 21, 2006 in the presence of those who loved
him most.
Matthew's military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star
Medal, the Purple Heart, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good
Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign
Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service
Ribbon, the Combat Action Badge, the Driver and Mechanic Badge, and

PFC Jeff Estlack
USA
PFC Jeffrey Paul Estlack was deployed to Iraq with 1st CAV DIV
615th ASB bravo company (from Fort Hood TX) in Feb 2004 and was able
to come home for 2 weeks in Oct 2004 to see his son come into the
world. When his son Paul was 9 days old he had to go back to Iraq. I
remember it like it was yesterday. Jeff was holding Paul and they
both had on desert cammies. Jeff is his uniform and Paul in his hat
and bib that matched. We walked around and we both held back tears.
A kind lady walked up and asked if he was going overseas and we said
yes she said she would pray for him and said a simple thank you and
that's when reality hit. He was leaving and he had to go soon. we
both checked the board and his plan was on time and he needed to go.
We both took a deep breath and said our goodbyes. It was a sad
moment but I stayed as strong as I could. I didn't want him to feel
worse than he already did. So we kissed and hugged one last time and
I had to walk away. I don't think I made it 2 steps before the tears
fell. I still cry when I think about it today, a year later. But he
came home in one piece 6 months later and now we are happy healthy
and together again as a family!
Jeff,
I love you with all of my heart. Thank you for all that you do, I

2LT Neal Murray
National GuardBut above all of the confusion of those bound
to the ground, he spoke with his Archangels and created Aviation to
relieve the wearniess of the infantry's feet, the increase the
vision of the artillerymans eyes, the sound of the signalmen and to
speed the goods of the quartermasters and others to those in need.
And to show his pleasure with his new aerial angels, he created the
most special one of all: the Attack Aviator, whose mighty wings
silences foes with their firey blast of cannon, rocket and missiles.

Dear God, Send your angels to look after every father, mother, son,
daughter, husband and friend.. who took the oath to honor our flag
and to protect this Country Dear God:
Make this creed last as long as we all breath:
I am an American Soldier.
I am a Warrior and a member of a team. I serve the people of the
United States and live the Army Values.
I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.
I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and
