Trophy Striped Bass Season Starts April 15!

  • From 4/15 - 5/15:
    1 fish per person per day (over 28")

  • From 5/16 - 12/31:
    2 18" - 28" fish per person per day  OR
    1 18" - 28" fish per person per day plus 1 28" or over

  • Check The Maryland DNR regulations

  • Day and evening fishing for Croaker, Trout, Spot, bottom fishing, etc. will start June 1.

Fishing the Chesapeake

Captain Eddie Davis's boats are equipped with the latest electronic gear, and are always kept in peak operating condition.

The mid-Chesapeake offers a variety of different kinds of fishing, depending on the time of year and the local conditions. For example,

  • Trophy Rockfish can be caught during the months of April and May.
  • Sea Trout usually arrive in late June and are caught throughout the summer, but as the weather cools the trout bite better (mainly in September and October).
  • Drum usually start in July, August, and maybe September.
  • Flounder fishing is good in the fall. Also, there are Spot, Hardhead, and Perch.

    • Captain Eddie offers a number of different fishing techniques, depending on your preference and what works best at any given time, such as

  • Chumming,
  • Trolling,
  • Bottom Fishing,
  • Casting to schools of breaking fish with light tackle.

    • You may want to check out the latest fishing report from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources for up-to-date fishing information.

    The Arrangements

    A lifetime on the water gives Captain Eddie the experience and expertise needed to handle any situation.

    Call for pricing. A $100 deposit is required to hold your date.

    Bait, ice, and equipment are furnished (subject to a charge for lost equipment). If you prefer, you may use your own fishing tackle.

    Boats leave the dock at 6:00 a.m. and return at 3:00 p. m., unless loaded with fish or you want to come in earlier.   Times can also be flexible by request.  6 hour trips available.

    No fishing license is required.

    Don't forget to bring your own:

  • Protective clothing, according to the weather,
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen,
  • Food and Drinks.

    Captain Eddie's charter operation is located on the Maryland side of the Potomac River, near Lexington Park (home of Patuxent River NAS). A map and complete driving directions can be found by visiting the Yahoo map site.

    Information about lodging can be obtained by visiting the travel section at the Southern Maryland Online web site. Hotels/motels in Lexington Park or California (near the Patuxent River NAS) are located about 20 minutes away from the dock.
