Charles County Woman Chases Boyfriend With Knife; More...


DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On March 5 at 7:15 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to Thunderbird Motel at 11050 Crain Highway in Newburg for the report of an assault with a weapon. Investigation revealed a 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, both of La Plata, were involved in an argument when the woman chased the man with a knife. The woman broke a motel window and kicked a tail light out of a vehicle in the parking lot. She was arrested and charged with First- and Second- Degree Assault and Destruction of Property. She is being held at the Charles County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond. The incident is the result of a domestic dispute. Officer A. Schwab investigated.

ARMED ROBBERY: On March 8 at 7:25 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to Yummy Yummy Carry Out at 2792 Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed two suspects entered the business and one of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded money from the cashier, a 32-year-old man. The cashier complied. The suspects then fled the scene. The suspects are described as two black males in their late teens with thin builds. They were 6 feet tall and were wearing black hooded sport jackets and black gloves. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-7777. Officer J. Burroughs is investigating.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On March 6 at 3 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 9600 block of Tony's Place in La Plata for the report of an assault with a weapon. Investigation revealed a 55-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman were involved in a argument when the man assaulted the woman with a gun. The man was arrested and charged with First- and Second- Degree Assault and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. The woman was not injured. The incident is the result of a domestic dispute. Officer E. Powell is investigating.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On March 5 at 6:10 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a room at the Lafayette Inn at 9340 Crain Highway in Bel Alton for the stabbing report. Investigation revealed a 42-year-old woman of no fixed address and a 45-year-old Bel Alton man were involved in an argument when the woman stabbed the man with a pair of scissors. The man was transported to Civista Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The woman was charged with First- and Second-Degree Assault and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. The incident was the result of a domestic dispute. Officer C. Cusmano investigated.

BURGLARY: On Feb. 27 at 12:13 a.m., two suspects forced entry into Mega Imports at 2584 Old Washington in Waldorf, stole a silver 1998 Honda Civic with no registration plates and fled northbound on Old Washington Road. The suspects are described as black males in their early 20s with slim builds. They were both wearing black hooded sweatshirts and black pants. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-7777. Officer S. Hawkins is investigating.
