Today the Department of Defense announced its recommendation for closures and realignments of US military installations. Under this proposal, Patuxent River Naval Air Station will receive a gain of approximately 87 personnel positions.
The list of recommendations will now be sent to the BRAC Commission for review. BRAC officials will visit installations and analyze the community impact of the closings/realignments, then forward their report to the President by September 8, 2005.
The President then has until September 23, 2005 to accept or reject the recommendations in their entirety.
