Drunks Resist Arrest in Calvert


CDS Violation/Hindering

On July 19th, 2005 at 5:43 pm, Deputy Milam conducted a traffic stop on Md. Rt. 4 and Duke St., Prince Frederick, Md. Based on observations made during the stop, the driver, Matthew S. Long, 20 years old of Tracy’s Landing, Md. was placed under arrest for DUI. Long was secured in Deputy Milam’s vehicle. Deputy Milam returned to the suspect’s vehicle and observed a non-conventional smoking device (crack pipe) on the floorboard of the car. He asked the front seat passenger if there were any illegal items in the car. At this point she became very upset and began to scream profanities at Deputy Milam, she exited the car and charged at Deputy Milam. Long was able to remove his seatbelt and get out of the Deputy Milam’s Patrol Car. Both suspects charged at Deputy Milam and he sprayed them with his OC spray. Long was subdued and returned to the Patrol Car. The passenger was identified as Sandra M. Atkins, 38 years old of Lexington Park, Md. She was placed under arrest and charged with Hindering. Both suspects were charged with possession of CDS.

Resisting Arrest

On July 23rd, 2005 at 11:35 pm, Dfc. Tomlinson conducted a traffic stop on Md. Rt 231 and Stafford Rd., Barstow, Md. Based on observations made during the stop the driver was arrested for DUI. As Dfc. Tomlinson attempted to handcuff the driver, he tried to pull away. He had to be subdued with the help of Deputy Frye. The vehicle operator was identified as Mark C. King, 42 years old of S.E. Washington D.C. He was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with DUI and Resisting Arrest.
