The County Commissioners announce the appointment of the membership of the Compensation Commission, which will be charged with developing salary recommendations for the County Commissioners and the Treasurer who assume office in December 2006. The Commission members include the following County residents: Mollie Gieseman of Issue, David Young of White Plains, Charles Morrison of La Plata, Frank Hollewa of La Plata, and Ernest Cruea of Waldorf, who will serve as Chairman.
The Commission must forward its determination by resolution to the County Commissioners no later than January 15, 2006. The County Commissioners must then adopt an ordinance which will either implement or reduce the recommendation. The recommendation cannot be increased.
The Compensation Commission has also been asked to review and recommend salaries for the Judges of the Orphans Court. This would be advisory only, since the County Commissioners do not have authority to set salaries for these offices. These recommendations would be forwarded to the County's legislative delegation for action.
