Man Threatens Suicide; Gets Tasered Instead

On 08/09/05 at approximately 0430 hours, DFC David Yingling, DFC Patrick Handy and Deputy Kevin Roane responded to Peggs View Apartments for a reported subject threatening suicide with a knife. Upon their arrival the subject was observed leaving the residence with a knife to his throat. He was ordered several times by DFC Handy to drop the knife, which he failed to comply. DFC Yingling was able to move behind the subject and again ordered him to stop and drop the knife. The subject failed to do so. DFC Yingling then deployed his TASER striking the subject causing him to drop the knife and fall to the ground. The subject was then handcuffed and taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to St. Mary's Hospital for an Emergency Evaluation.
