Five St. Mary's Businesses Fail Alcohol Compliance Check


On Friday evening September 30, 2005 Deputies of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office assisted by an underage confidential informant conducted another alcohol compliance check operation. Deputies conducted thirteen alcohol compliance checks at establishments throughout the county with five establishments failing the compliance checks.

The establishments which successfully passed the compliance checks were:
- The Country Store in Medley's Neck
- Piney Point Market
- Price's Quality Liquors
- Canopy Liquors
- Rod 'N Reel
- Ben's Bar & Grocery
- DJ's One Stop Shop
- Mouse Trap

The establishments which failed the compliance checks were:
- Bob's Sunoco
- Hal's Foodmart
- Esperanza Shell
- Wildewood Wine & Spirits
- Early Bird.

The establishments which failed the compliance checks will be brought before the Alcohol Beverage Board for St. Mary's County. The employees who made the sales were all issued civil citations for furnishing alcoholic beverages for consumption to a person known to be under the age of 21 and they will have to appear in the District Court for St. Mary's County.
