Burglars Busted in Hughesville

On Nov. 16 at 12:15 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 15100 block of Woodbridge Court in Hughesville for the report of a burglary in progress.

Investigation revealed the victim, a 44-year-old man, arrived home and observed an unknown man exit the victim's residence and drive away in a small green passenger car. The victim called the police and followed the vehicle to the area of Bassford Road, where he lost sight of it.

As he returned to the residence, he stopped to talk to several neighbors on Bassford Road. During their conversation, two men emerged from the woods. The victim had a brief conversation with the men and responding officers stopped to investigate.

The officers determined the men who had emerged from the woods were also involved in the burglary. Officer J. Freeman and his K9 partner had responded to the house and were conducting a track, which led to the two apprehended men. The track also resulted in the recovery of items that were stolen from the residence, including jewelry and a telephone.

The men were identified as Antwon Delonte Alston and Chepel Dominique Ferrell, both 18 and from Oxon Hill. They were charged with first degree burglary and are being held at the Charles County Detention Center. Officer J. Timko investigated.
