Drug Bust in Great Mills Nets 11 Arrests


On 11/23/05 at 05:00 a.m., a 2 month long CDS investigation concluded with the execution of a search and seizure warrant executed at 21981 Barkentine Court in Great Mills Maryland. The search and seizure warrant was executed by the Bureau of Criminal Investigations Narcotics Unit, the St. Mary’s County Emergency services Team, the Calvert County Special Operations Team, and the St. Mary’s County K-9 unit. Recovered from the residence was over 22 grams of cocaine with a street value of $2200.00, CDS smoking paraphernalia, and $107.00.

11 persons were arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of CDS smoking paraphernalia. Among those arrested was the renter of the residence, Robert Newton age 43, Catherine Davis age 44 of Great Mills, Louis Parker age 35 of Great Mills, Jeffrey Hephner age 25 of Leonardtown, Jacqueline Lyon age 40 of Berlin PA, Joseph Lee age 35 of Great Mills, Dante Thomas age 21 of Lexington Park, Darlene McDowney age 26 of Lexington Park, Joseph Taylor age 26 of Lexington Park, Eric Payne age 49 of Lexington Park, and Charles Chandler age 30 of Cambridge OH. Two of the persons arrested were also served with open criminal warrants. Further felony charges are pending.

The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown, Maryland.
