Charles County Sheriff's Office Searching for Missing Bomb K9

The Charles County Sheriff's Office is asking for help from the public in finding Odie, a Sheriff's Office bomb dog who ran recently away from her handler's residence.

Odie left the residence in the Doncaster area of Route 344 at about 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12. Odie is a Belgain Malinois, a breed that resembles a small German Shepard. She is brown with light coloring underneath and weighs between 45 and 50 pounds. Her ears stand erect and she has a curly tail. She is an explosive detector and is not trained in apprehension.

Officers have searched the area and notified Charles County Animal Control, who is assisting with the search, but so far have been unable find her. The Sheriff's Office believes someone may have found Odie and taken her in to care for her.

Anyone who sees Odie or who has information regarding her whereabouts should call the Sheriff's Office immediately at 301-932-2222 in La Plata, 301-743-2222 in Indian Head or 301-932-7777 in Waldorf.
