December 29, 2005:
On December 14 at 1:06 p.m. units from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police Barrack “U” were dispatched to Hardesty Road in Huntingtown for a reported burglary in progress. The victim advised that he returned home and found a strange vehicle in his driveway. He confronted a male suspect standing beside the vehicle. The suspect stated that his vehicle had run out of gas and that he was waiting for assistance. The victim observed that the vehicle’s engine was running and questioned the suspect who stated, “I was wondering that, also.”
The victim advised he could hear the burglar alarm going off inside his residence. He advised the suspect that he was going to call 9-1-1, at which point the suspect got into his vehicle and swiftly backed out of the driveway, running over some shrubbery. The victim proceeded toward his home and observed a second male suspect walking out of his garage with a cooler full of liquor bottles. The male suspect dropped the cooler and ran toward the rear of the residence, fleeing into the woods.
Police units from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police Barrack “U” immediately canvassed the area and located a male, fitting the description given by the victim. The victim also provided a tag number to the vehicle that was in his driveway and another suspect was located. This case is still under investigation by Det. Christopher Parsons of the CIT Division and charges are pending.
