Best Buy Employee Scams Two Teenage Girls in Waldorf

On Dec. 23 at 1:38 p.m., Officer E. Baker responded to a residence in the 2200 block of Wellington Woods in Waldorf for a report of a theft. Investigation revealed two Waldorf sisters, ages 14 and 17, went to Best Buy at 11725 Berry Road in Waldorf to purchase an XBox 360 on Dec. 18 at approximately 9 a.m. The girls spoke with an employee, Noah Benjamin Rodriguez, 27, of Tall Timbers, Md., who subsequently sold them a sales advertisement for the XBox 360 and told them to take the ad to the cashier to retrieve the merchandise. After exchanging the money for the ad, the girls approached the cashier, who told them they could not exchange the ad for an XBox. The girls informed the cashier of what happened but Rodriguez had already fled.
Several days later, the girls' mother called the Sheriff's Office to report the theft. After obtaining the victims' information, Officer Baker responded to Best Buy, where he found Rodriguez and arrested him. He was charged with theft more than $500 and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
