Man Arrested for Selling Cocaine to Undercover Officer


The Bureau of Criminal Investigations Narcotics Division conducted a several month long investigation into a suspect that was identified as selling controlled dangerous substances. Several operations were conducted and controlled substances were purchased from the Suspect. On January 4th, 2005 Narcotics Officers purchased a quantity of Crack Cocaine from the target, Richard Leon Reed. An undercover officer purchased crack cocaine from Suspect Reed as additional officers waited for the sale to be completed. Once the sale was done, the remaining officer immediately took Suspect Reed into custody without incident.

Approximately $200.00 in cocaine and $40.00 with of marijuana was involved in the transaction and arrest. Also seized was the suspect’s cellular phone. The Suspect was charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance. Additional charges are pending a State’s Attorney and Grand Jury review related to other controlled dangerous substance violation that occurred throughout the investigation.
