SCHOOL BUS CRASH: On Jan. 5 at 2:18 p.m., a Charles County school bus was parked in the parking lot of Milton Somers Middle School at 300 Willow Lane in La Plata and when a delivery van attempted to pass it, the delivery van struck the right outside mirror of the school bus. The driver of the delivery van, Salvatore Russell Jeppi Jr., 35 of Baltimore, the driver of the school bus, Roberta Lee Southerland-Latimer, 42, of La Plata, and the three students on the bus were not injured. Officer R. Taylor of the Traffic Operations Unit investigated.
SCHOOL BUS CRASH: On Jan. 4 at 2:24 p.m., a Charles County school bus was traveling north in the parking lot of Thomas Stone High School at 3785 Leonardtown Road in Waldorf when the driver, John Frederick Fassel, 63, of Waldorf, struck a parked, unoccupied 2002 BMW 525I. The driver and the 36 students on the bus were not injured. Officer R. Glover of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.
