MSP Reports for St. Mary's


On Friday, April 28, 2006 at 10:55 pm, TFC L. Nims was on foot patrol at the Relax Inn, Leonardtown, when he heard what sounded like someone being hit, and then heard a woman scream. Contact was made with the occupants of the room. Nicole Marie Grannis, 25, of Lusby appeared to have been crying and had fresh bruises on her face. Observed in plain view, on the dresser, was a white powdery substance “lined” on a clip board. Also observed, on the night stand, were marijuana and two smoking devices. A search of the second occupant, Brian David Smith, 36, of St. Inigoes, revealed pills and marijuana in his pockets. A search of Ms. Grannis’ purse revealed several pills for which she had no prescription. Ms. Grannis was arrested and charged with Possession of CDS and omitting a label required by State law to be attached to a controlled dangerous substance. Mr. Smith was arrested and charged with Assault, Possession of CDS and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Both were taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bail review. On Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 2:20 pm, TFC L. Nims responded to McKay’s Food Store, Hollywood, for a reported theft. McKay’s store manager advised Amanda Lynn Abell-Morgan, 24, of Hollywood, was observed placing three items into her purse having a total value of $11.37. Ms. Abell-Morgan was issued a criminal citation for theft and released at the scene. (0682004802)

On Friday, May 5, 2006 at 5:15 pm, Nelson Lorenzo Butler, 29, of Leonardtown, was arrested by Tpr. T. Long, on a Bench Warrant for Failing to Appear in Court to answer to a charge of driving while suspended. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held until posting a $3,500 bail. On Friday, May 5, 2006 at 10:00 pm, Tpr. G. White responded to Chaptico Road at Route 5 for a reported property damage accident. Investigation revealed that the driver of a Ford collided into the rear of a Volvo when the Volvo was slowing to make a left turn. The driver of the Ford was identified as Thomas Bayard Hanson, 43, of Hollywood. During conversation with Mr. Hanson, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected on his breath. After failing field sobriety tests, Mr. Hanson was arrested and charged with DUI. (0682004888, 0682004889)

On Saturday, May 6, 2006, TFC M. Moore responded to the 22000 block of Colton Point Road, Bushwood, for two burglary reports. Initial investigation revealed that over $8,000 in property had been stolen. Investigation is continuing. 0682004905, 0682004906)

On Saturday, May 6, 2006, Tpr. E. Evans responded to Burchmart, Hollywood, for a reported burglary. Initial investigation revealed that over $6,000 in property had been stolen. Investigation is continuing. (0682004899)

On Saturday, May 6, 2006 at 10:58 pm, TFC L. Nims observed a suspicious vehicle parked at the end of a private driveway on Mrytle Point Road in California. As he approached, the driver attempted to leave. The driver was stopped and identified as Frederick William Smith, 45, of Lexington Park. During a pat down, an odor of burnt marijuana was detected. Recovered from Mr. Smith’s pocket was a smoking device, containing burnt marijuana, and a bag of marijuana. Mr. Smith was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bail review. On Sunday, May 7, 2006 at 7:25 pm, TFC L. Nims arrested Elizabeth Kelly Gant, 28, of Drayden, on a Charles County Bench Warrant for Failing to Appear in Court to answer to a theft charge. Ms. Gant was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held until posting a $157.50 bail. (P00042546)
