Charles County Sheriff's Reports


WARRANT SWEEP: The Charles County Sheriff’s Office conducted a warrant sweep between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. July 28 in the La Plata and Indian Head districts. Eighteen warrants and six criminal summonses were served and two detainers were filed on suspects who were found to be incarcerated in other jurisdictions. The Warrant/Fugitive, Child Support, Domestic Violence and Juvenile Intervention Units and the Maryland State Police participated in the operation.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On July 27 at 1:25 p.m., Officers D. Brady and A. Schwab were on foot patrol in the 20 block of Chinaberry Lane in Indian Head when they observed a male seated in the driver’s seat of a 1991 Cadillac Deville in possession of an alcoholic beverage. Officers identified him as Antwan Jasper Thompson, 18, of Fort Washington. As officers were obtaining his information he became disorderly and was arrested. A search of the vehicle subsequent to Thompson’s arrest revealed a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat and a loaded magazine in the glove box. Thompson was charged with having a handgun in a vehicle, disorderly conduct, failure to obey a lawful order, disturbing the peace and possession of an alcoholic beverage while under the age of 21. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner. Officer D. Brady investigated.

THEFT: Sometime between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. July 25, suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot of the St. Charles Town Center located at 11110 Mall Circle in Waldorf. The suspect(s) stole property from the vehicle and fled the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer R. Kimble is investigating.
