Lexington Park Man Arrested for Murder of Virginia Man


On August 3, 2006 at 2350 hours, patrol officers from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department responded to an address in Lexington Park for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, Edmond Travis Copeland, a 25 year old male from Virginia. Officers discovered that Copeland was suffering from stab wounds. Officers immediately administered CPR. Copeland was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation was assumed by the St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI). As a result of their investigation, Eric Anthony Brooks Jr., an 18 year old male of Lexington Park, was charged with 2nd degree murder and incarcerated in the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.
