August 06, 2006:
Witnesses on the scene reported that John Struven Evans was the driver of the vehicle that was at fault in the accident. Deputies Carberry and Logalbo responded to the Evans home on Holly Lane a short distance from the scene of the accident. The deputies saw the alleged vehicle in the driveway of the Evans home. The registration information indicated the vehicle was owned by Evans. The damage on the vehicle was consistent with the accident that was just reported.
A female who resided in the residence pulled into the driveway as the deputies were conducting the investigation. She permitted the deputies entry into the home.
Deputy Logalbo found John Evans face down in a plate of food at the kitchen table apparently asleep. Deputy Logalbo awakened Evans and attempted to interview him. During the interview Evans punched Deputy Logalbo in the chest and attempted to flee into his bedroom. Deputies Logalbo and Carberry restrained Evans and placed him under arrest.
John S. Evans was charged with: Assault 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Hindering, DUI, DWI, and Failure to Stop after Vehicle Damage Causing Accident. He was transported to the County Detention Center.
A search of the “Maryland Judiciary Case Search” database revealed that Evans has had 35 various cases filed against him in the state of Maryland since 1999 (including these recent charges). Other than a charge for exceeding the speed limit in May of this year, the other infractions are all minor charges from the Department of Natural Resources. The charges were primarily for fishing, crabbing, and boating violations.
