Deputies Apprehend Fugitive from Ohio


On August 8th, 2006 the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a wanted felony was in the area from the State of Ohio. Corporal Stephen Myers, Dfc. Patrick Handy and Deputy Sara Lacey responded to a residence in the Mechanicsville area in an attempt to locate Suspect Keith Allan Romig. While interviews were taking place at the front of the residence, Deputies were set up in various locations around the residence. Suspect Romig attempted to flee the residence and was immediately confronted by Dfc. Handy. After a brief struggle, Suspect Romig was placed into custody.

Suspect Romig was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he will await extradition to the State of Ohio. His warrant was for an unlawful sexual contact and no other details surrounding the incident are available at this time.
