Hit & Run Leaves St. Mary's Man Dead in Prince Frederick


On August 19 at 2:04 a.m. the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to Dares Beach Road and Armory Road in Prince Frederick for a report of a pedestrian struck in the roadway. Upon arrival, officials discovered a black male in an unconscious state suffering from life-threatening injuries. The victim was identified as John Vincent Medley, 42 of St. Mary’s County.

The initial investigation showed that Medley was in the roadway on Dares Beach Road when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene. Medley was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Det./Sgt. Michael Moore at the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office at 410-535-2800.
