ANNAPOLIS (May 30, 2008) - The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) today released the following incident and arrest reports. NRP is the enforcement arm of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). NRP is the only police force aside from the Maryland State Police that has statewide jurisdiction.

DUI BOATER: On Friday, May 23, at 9 p.m., the Maryland Natural Resources Police charged Ernesto V. Lopez III, 37, of King George, Va. with operating a vessel while under the influence of alcohol on the Potomac River north of Maryland Point. NRP stopped Lopez for allegedly not displaying proper navigational lights on his vessel. Lopez was transported to the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack for processing and charged with operating a vessel while under the influence of alcohol, operating a vessel while impaired by alcohol, negligent operation, operating a vessel between the hours of sunset and sunrise without proper navigation lights and failure to have vessel registration in possession. He was released to family members. A court date of July 23 has been scheduled for Lopez in Charles County District Court.

DWI: On Sunday, May, 25, at 12:49 a.m., the Maryland Natural Resources Police charged a Waldorf woman with driving while intoxicated on Route 301 near Heritage Green Parkway. NRP initiated a traffic stop on Haley M. Thomason, 20, of Waldorf for driving erratically. During the course of the traffic stop, Muir was arrested for driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol per se, driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol, unsafe lane change, negligent driving, driving on suspended out of state license, displaying suspended license, possessing suspended license, and possession of an alcoholic beverage by a person under 21 years of age.
