LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Dec. 22, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On December 19, 2008 at 11:27 p.m., deputies responded to the report of a domestic disturbance in Park Hall. Investigation revealed the victim and suspect were arguing over a set of house keys when the suspect, Steven L. Hite, age 35, of Park Hall allegedly pushed the victim down causing the victim to sustain a laceration to her leg. Hite was placed under arrest, charged with Assault Second Degree and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

INDECENT EXPOSURE: On December 20, 2008 at 12:36 a.m., Dfc. A. Whipkey responded to the Dragon Inn in Charlotte Hall for the report of a disorderly subject. Upon arrival Dfc. Whipkey observed Michael K. Morton 4th, age 28, of Prince Frederick, extremely intoxicated and standing in front of the establishment urinating in the doorway to the business exposing himself to the general public. Morton was placed under arrest, charged with Indecent Exposure and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT, RESISTING ARREST: On December 21, 2008 at 8:20 a.m., deputies responded to the Three Oaks Men's Shelter in Lexington Park for the report of an assault. Investigation revealed Brian D. Via, age 39, of Lexington Park struck several other occupants of the shelter by hand over an alleged theft. One victim received several lacerations to his face and head and another victim had his clothes torn by Via. Via was confronted by deputies at which time Via spat on Dfc. Cathcart. Via was placed under arrest, at which time Via began fighting with the deputies. Via was subsequently subdued, charged with four counts of Second Degree Assault, Resisting Arrest and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $100: On December 21, 2008 at 5:33 p.m., Deputy S. Ruest responded to the Family Dollar in Leonardtown for the report of a theft. Investigation revealed Bellamy C. Hinz, age 34, of Leonardtown enter the business, removed merchandise from its packaging, and concealed the items in a plastic bag. Hinz then attempted to exit the store without rendering payment for the items. Hinz was located in a nearby business, placed under arrest, charged with Theft under $100 and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT, RESISTING ARREST: On December 21, 2008 at 7:27 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a disturbance on Patuxent Road, Lexington Park. Investigation revealed numerous subjects were involved in a physical altercation. Following the altercation Joseph C. Harrod 3rd, age 22, of Prince Frederick, struck several persons in the face with his fist causing minor injuries to the victims. Harrod then left the area and returned a short time later armed with a knife. Harrod approached several other persons brandishing the knife and making threats to stab them. Harrod was located in a nearby residence and placed under arrest following a short struggle. Harrod was charged with six counts of Assault First Degree, two counts of Assault Second Degree and one count of Resisting Arrest. Harrod was incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
