NRP Charge Six With Catching Too Many Fish

ANNAPOLIS (Dec. 25, 2008) - The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) released the following incident and arrest report Wednesday. NRP is the enforcement arm of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). NRP is the only police force aside from the Maryland State Police that has statewide jurisdiction.

STRIPED BASS VIOLATIONS: On Wednesday, Dec.17, at 11 a.m., the Maryland Natural Resources Police charged six individuals with striped bass violations in Solomons Harbor. NRP charged the individuals after locating 20 striped bass, some of which had been filleted, aboard their vessel, Stoney’s Kingfisher.

The following individuals were charged with exceeding the daily recreational catch limit for striped bass and failure to land striped bass dockside as a whole fish: David D. Scott, 37, Lyndon D. Flora Sr., 49, Lyndon D. Flora Jr. 25, William A. Wroten, 27, Nicholas P. Hoffman, 24, all of Lusby and Joseph G. Hawk, 38, of Greenbelt.

Maryland regulations only allow recreational fishermen to catch and keep either 2 bass 18"- 28"; or 1 bass 18" - 28"; and 1 larger than 28"/person/day during the period May 16, 2008 - Dec. 31, 2008. Individuals may not possess striped bass while fishing between 12:00 midnight and 5:00 a.m.
