Posted on MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION: On Dec. 30 at 10:07 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Berry Road and Bunker Hill Road in Waldorf for the report of a motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed a Waldorf VFD fire truck was stopped in a left turn lane on Berry Road to turn onto Bunker Hill Road when the driver of a Lexus lost control and struck the rear of the fire truck. The Lexus continued into the roadway and was struck by a pick-up truck before coming to a stop. A fourth vehicle struck the pick-up. The driver of the Lexus was extricated from her vehicle and flown to Prince George's Hospital Center where she was admitted. All other parties involved were treated at area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries. The Traffic Operations Unit is handling the investigation. BURGLARY: On Dec. 29, at 6:14 p.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of Gibbons Court in Waldorf for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed sometime between Dec. 27 -Dec. 29, unknown suspects entered the victim's house by manipulating the lock on a basement window. Once inside, the suspects stole several items including a safe that contained long guns. Officer M. Rodriguez handled the call. GUNS RECOVERED: On Dec. 28 at 9:15 p.m., a Charles County Sheriff's officer initiated a traffic stop in the 18000 block of Prince Frederick Road in Benedict after a computer check revealed the tags did not belong on the car. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and fled north. The vehicle was found a short time later abandoned on North Keys Road in Brandywine. Officers recovered two guns inside the car. Officer M. Rodriguez is handling the investigation. R.R.E./VANDALISM: On Dec. 28 at 8:42 p.m., officers responded to Brentland Road near Blossom Point Road in Welcome for the report of vandalism. Investigation revealed sometime between 6 p.m. and 8:42 p.m. that day, an unknown suspect spray painted racial epithets on the roadway. Officers canvassed the area but no other vandalisms were observed. Officer D. Behm is handling the investigation. SAFETY REMINDER: The holidays are a good time to update-or create-your home inventory. Take photos or make videos of items and list descriptions and serial numbers. If your home is burglarized, having a detailed inventory can help identify stolen items and make insurance claims easier to file. |
