Fire Marshals Searching for Arsonist


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (May 25, 2009) - Deputy State Fire Marshals are searching for the person responsible for setting a fire at the rear of the K-Mart store. The 5-24-09, 4:20 p.m. fire at the Fox Run Shopping Center at 835 Solomon Island Road caused an approximate $1,000.00 damage to the rear wall of the commercial building.

The late afternoon fire brought approximately fifteen firefighters from Prince Frederick to the scene. The fire was brought under control within five-minutes.

Investigators have determined a bale of cardboard boxes was intentionally set on fire. The store was open for business but no evacuation of patrons was necessary.

Deputy State Fire Marshals are seeking the public's help in identifying the person or persons responsible for this fire. Anyone with information is urged to call the Maryland Arson Hotline at 1-800-492-7529 or the Southern Region office at 443-550-6820.
