Calvert Investigative Team Reports

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Dec. 7, 2009) - The Calvert County Investigative Team (CIT) recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

ARMED ROBBERY: On Wednesday, December 2 at 9:58 p.m. an armed robbery was reported via 911 at the CVS Store located at 10095 Ward Road, Dunkirk. DFC John "Marty" McCarroll and Dep. Stephen Esposito of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office responded but the suspect had fled on foot in an unknown direction. Initial investigation by Det. Homer Rich of the Calvert Investigative Team determined that a lone suspect, a white male, approximately 5'8", wearing dark clothes and a ski mask, entered the business just before closing. The suspect walked to the pharmacy area undetected by the management, made contact with two pharmacists and a customer and announced a robbery. He displayed a chrome colored handgun and ordered all three behind the pharmacy counter. He ordered the customer and the female employee to the floor. The suspect ordered the male pharmacist to give him oxycontin. The male pharmacist put the oxycontin in a plastic bag that the suspect handed him. No shots were fired and no one was injured. The stolen oxycontin has a street value of over $100,000. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Homer Rich at 410-535-2800, extension 2765.

ARRESTS IN HOME INVASION: On December 2 at about 3:40 p.m. after executing search and seizure warrants at the addresses of three suspects in the home invasion and robbery on Mackall Road in St. Leonard that occurred on December 1, Det. Michael Mudd of the C.I.T. made arrests of the suspects. Derek Craig Bradley, 21 of Lusby, Bryan Edward Seay, 20 of Port Republic and Stephen Greenlee Joseph, 19 of Lusby, were all served warrants charging them each with armed robbery, 3 counts of first degree assault, 3 counts of second degree assault, first degree burglary, reckless endangerment, 3 counts of false imprisonment, theft less than $1000, handgun violation use in a felony and handgun on person. Also arrested and charged with armed robbery, first degree burglary and 3 counts each of first and second degree assault was Carlene Danielle Pedersen, 19 of Lusby.

SHOP WITH A COP: Shop with a Cop is sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police of Calvert County, along with the Optimist Clubs of Calvert County. Members and staff of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office will be volunteering with the event as will members of MSP and Natural Resources police. This year's program will be held on Saturday, December 12th. The Shop with a Cop program joins underprivileged children with local police officers, providing the children with money to shop for Christmas presents for their families and themselves. This year, we will be providing 70 children and their families with a memorable holiday experience.

The event begins with the police officers picking up the children and transporting them to Outback Steakhouse where they will be graciously served with a morning snack. They will then be escorted in marked police cruisers, complete with lights and sirens, to the Prince Frederick Wal-Mart. The procession of vehicles with lights and sirens activated should be a spectacular sight as they travel down Main Street to the south entrance onto Md. Rt. 4 and then north to Wal-Mart. Once at Wal-Mart the children will be allowed to purchase items for themselves and family members totaling $100 per child. After shopping, they will be taken back to Outback Steakhouse for a breakfast buffet. While at Outback, volunteers will be assisting the children with wrapping their presents before the officers transport them back to their homes.
