MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Dec. 08, 2009) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, November 30 at 10:11 am, Ryan Dewayne Hall, 27, of Lusby was arrested by Tpr. N. E. Gresko on an outstanding Bench Warrant issued by District Court in Calvert County on August 7, 2008. The original charge on the Bench Warrant (T3-14221) was Failing to Appear in District Court for Driving on the highway without the required license or authorization. Mr. Hall was taken into custody on a traffic stop on Maddox Road at John Maddox Road in Bushwood. He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE, DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, December 3 at 4:04 pm, Troopers from the Leonardtown Barracks responded to the 23000 block of Mill Pond Road in Hollywood for the reported Domestic Disturbance. Upon arrival, Tpr J. C. Hardesty made contact with the complainant, Cheryl Lynn Redmond, 46, of Hollywood. She advised she was assaulted by her roommate who was under the influence of prescription medications and also making threats of suicide. While interviewing the roommate, 54, of Hollywood, she advised she was assaulted by Ms. Redmond and had swelling to the left side of her face. A small caliber handgun was observed in plain view on the night stand. Tpr. Hardesty took possession of the handgun. Tpr. J. S. Gibson and Cpl. J. L. Linger were also in the residence. Tpr. Gibson observed in plain view a prescription bottle containing Marijuana. Both the handgun and Marijuana were given to Cpl. Linger and were taken to the Leonardtown Barracks for processing. The roommate was taken into custody by Tpr. Gibson and transported to St. Mary's Hospital for evaluation. Ms. Redmond was taken into custody by Tpr. Hardesty and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was charged Assault 2nd Degree and Possession of Marijuana. She was held at the detention center pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. Further charges are pending on the roommate.

THEFT UNDER $100: On Thursday, December 3 at 9:36 pm, the female victim, 62, of Hollywood responded to the Leonardtown Barracks to report between the hours of 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm on December 3 while the victim was catering a party at the Wildewood Shopping Center, someone stole her purse valued at $25.00 from her 2002 Jeep Cherokee. After discovering the purse was missing, the victim reported the theft to her credit card company and they advised her one transaction in the amount of $100.00 was already made on the credit card. The account was cancelled. The investigation continues.

DRUG ARREST: On Friday, December 4 at 1:05 am, Joseph Michael Burkhard 3rd, 27, of La Plata was arrested by Tpr. E. J. Page for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Mr. Burkhard was operating a white Ford Ranger north bound Three Notch Road in Charlotte Hall when he was stopped on Mt. Wolf Road for an equipment violation. Upon contact with the driver, Mr. Burkhard, Tpr. Page detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Mr. Burkhard was not able to satisfactorily perform the roadside field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. Mr. Burkhard was found to be in possession of a metal socket containing Marijuana and a plastic baggie of Marijuana. Mr. Burkhard was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was issued several traffic citations and charged with DUI and Possession of Marijuana and CDS Paraphernalia.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, December 4 at 10:05 pm, Craig Curtis Schneider, 44, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC J. G. Fleetwood on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-14194) for Failing to Appear in District Court on November 6. The original charge was Driving on a Suspended License. Mr. Schneider was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

FALSE NAME TO AVOID PROSECUTION: On Saturday, December 5 at 1:46 am, Tpr. N. E. Gresko was responding to the reported Fight in progress at the Big Dogs Paradise located in the 28000 block of Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville. Upon arrival, it appeared the fight was over and people were leaving the area. Tpr. Gresko observed a silver Isuzu truck exit the parking lot and immediately turning left traveling north in the south bound lanes of Three Notch Road nearly striking another vehicle head on. Tpr. Gresko responded to the scene and made contact with the operator. She was subsequently arrested for DUI and later identified as Caitlin Michelle Reece, 20, of Waldorf. Ms. Reece was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was charged with DUI and Providing a False Name to avoid Prosecution. She was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Saturday, December 5 at 12:05 pm, Montreece D. Mitchell, 23, of Great Mills was served a Bench Warrant (T3-14218) for Violation of Probation for Failing to follow conditions of Probation. The warrant was served by TFC J. A. Pilkerton at the St. Mary's County Detention Center where Ms. Mitchell was already incarcerated on unrelated charges.

THEFT UNDER $1,000: On Sunday, December 6 at 1:47 pm, Tpr. G. A. Thompson responded to the 20000 block of Chestnut Ridge Road in Leonardtown for the reported Theft under $1,000.00. Contact was made with the female complainant, 48, of Leonardtown who advised unknown suspect(s) entered her residence and took $120.00 from her daughter's purse and an undetermined amount of change from a jar in the kitchen. They were unable to advise who could have stolen the money and the investigation continues.
