LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Dec. 30, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest report regarding an alleged false of report of a robbery in Lexington Park.

FALSE REPORT OF A ROBBERY: On Monday, Dec. 28, at 0613 hours, St. Mary's Emergency Communication received a 911 call from Sharon Marie Milburn, 47 of Great Mills, an employee of Chesapeake Cab Company. Milburn reported she was just robbed in the parking lot of the cab company and that her boyfriend, John Joseph Greenwell, 51 of Great Mills, was chasing the suspect down the street.

Dfc. K. Moritz made contact with Milburn and Cpl. P. Handy located Greenwell behind the Bay District Fire Department. Greenwell told Cpl. Handy the suspect ran through the parking lot towards Shangri La Drive. Numerous officers responded to the scene in an attempt to locate the alleged robber but no suspect was located.

Milburn reported to Dfc. Moritz that she was standing beside her vehicle when a black male approached her from behind and asked for a cigarette. Milburn stated that before she could turn around the man grabbed her purse and fled with Greenwell chasing after him. Milburn advised her purse contained $500.00 belonging to Chesapeake Cab Company which she was to turn in to the cab company. Inconsistencies in Milburn's story led to further investigation and interviews. After about an hour, deputies determined that Milburn and Greenwell made up the robbery story because Milburn had spent the $500.00. Milburn and Greenwell were arrested and charged with making a false report to a police officer. Additionally, Milburn was charge with theft.
