Man Died from Exposure to Cold

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 23, 2009)—Police announced this afternoon that Thomas Leroy Dyson, who was discovered lying dead on the side of the road in the area of Three Notch Road in Laurel Grove Wednesday morning, died from exposure to the cold, according to the State medical examiner's preliminary autopsy results. Weather forecasts called for local temperatures as low as 16-degrees F Tuesday night.

Mr. Dyson was believed to have been walking home from his job at Naval Air Station Patuxent River. Dyson did not own a vehicle and often hitchhiked home, according to police investigators.

Police say the final report from the medical examiner's office is pending.
