Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (Jan. 29, 2009) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

MAN CHARGED WITH FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On Jan. 28 at 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of Ashford Circle in Waldorf for the report of a man with a gun. Investigation revealed the suspect, Ronald Matthew Tibbs, III, went to the home of an acquaintance and displayed a handgun; he thought the victim stole something from him earlier that day. Tibbs left the house and was located a short time later at his residence. Officers recovered the handgun and several other guns that may have been stolen in a previous burglary. Tibbs was charged with first-degree assault. Officer C. Barrows is investigating.

FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On Jan. 28 at 3:21 p.m., officers responded to the 8800 block of Lowell Road in Waldorf for an attempted home invasion. Investigation revealed the suspect knocked on the victim's door and asked for a person named Jimmy. When the victim told the suspect he had the wrong house, the suspect displayed a handgun and tried to force his way. The victim was able to push the door shut and call police. The suspect fled in a vehicle. Detective J. Elliott is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Jan. 28 at 8:50 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Post Office Road in Waldorf for a report of a burglary. Investigation revealed sometime between Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. and Jan. 28 at 8:50 a.m., an unknown suspect broke out a window to a doctor's office and stole a small amount of cash. Officer M. Rodriguez is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Jan. 28 at 5:43 a.m., officers responded to the Sport & Health Club located at 90 Post Office Road in Waldorf for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed two suspects broke into the business and stole money. Officer A. St. Germain is investigating.

THEFT OF DIRT BIKES: On Jan. 27 at 5:21 p.m., officers responded to the 11200 block of Mattingly Road in La Plata for the report of a theft. Investigation revealed the suspect broke into the garage and stole two dirt bikes: an orange colored, 2003 SX 65 and a 1999 Honda CR250, red and white in color. Officer M. DePaulo is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Jan. 27 at 1:15 p.m., officers responded to the 12000 block of Provident Drive in La Plata for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed an unknown suspect broke into a garage by breaking a window on a side door. Once inside, the suspect stole a chainsaw and a dirt bike. Officer R. Bagley is investigating.
