More Drug Arrests in St. Mary's

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 30, 2009)—Vice narcotics detectives continue their aggressive campaign to shut down illegal drug operations in St. Mary's County. As the result of investigations, four people were arrested this week on illegal drug distribution charges and several more were arrested on drug possession charges.

Vice narcotics detectives, assisted by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team, executed a search and seizure warrant on a residence in California. The target of the drug investigation, Adam Thomas Herbert, 20, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. Police say marijuana, a scale, and packaging items were recovered. Additional charges are pending a State's Attorney's Office review.

A search and seizure warrant was executed on the home of Joseph "Bubby" Darnell Ransom, 19, in Mechanicsville. As a result of a drug investigation that lasted nearly two months, police determined that prescription medications were being sold from the home. Ransom was arrested and charged with illegal possession of methadone and possession of marijuana and related smoking devices. Police say two other people will be charged in this case with misdemeanor drug possession. Additional charges against Ransom are pending a State's Attorney's Office review.

A search warrant at a Lexington Park Apartment Complex led to the arrest of Lee Kidwell Clark, 22, for possession of marijuana and related smoking devices. A 16 year-old male was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. The minor was released to a guardian pending a hearing in the Juvenile Court.

Alan Michael McAllister, 22, of California, was arrested after police say he was found to be in possession of marijuana and a related smoking device. McAllister was present at a location where police were executing a search warrant.

Steve Lovell Thomas, 38, of Lexington Park, was arrested after being indicted by vice narcotics detectives. Thomas had multiple felony cocaine drug distribution warrants as well as a warrant for failure to pay child support.

Catherine Burnette Davis, 48, of Lexington Park, was arrested on an open warrant obtained by vice narcotics detectives through the District Court for illegal possession of prescription medication.

Police obtained a search warrant for a vehicle that was being operated by Maurice Terrell Kent, 25, of Great Mills. Police say Kent became a target of drug distribution as a result of several other investigations. Police say Kent was in possession of marijuana and nearly $1,200 in cash. Additional charges are pending a State's Attorney's Office review.
