MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Feb. 19, 2009) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: On February 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., Trooper Haut responded to the 11400 block of Stirrup Lane in Lusby for a reported burglary. Suspects entered the home through a window while the homeowners were away. Video equipment, electronic games, digital camera, computer, and jewelry, were taken from the residence. Investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410)535-1400.

THEFT: On February 12, 2009, Corporal White responded to the Transfer Station on Pushaw Station Road in Sunderland for a report of a stolen trailer registration plate. Investigation revealed that the plate had been stolen between 12-29-08 to 2-11-09. The trailer belonged to a sub-contractor for SHA. Investigation continues. ASSAULT: On February 13, 2009 at 2:30 a.m., Trooper Cavill responded to the 12800 block of Eagle Drive in Lusby for an assault. A fight broke out at the residence during a party. Shane Simon, 22, of Ft. Eustis, Va., fled the residence when police were called. Witnesses advised they thought they heard Simon jump into a pond behind the residence. Troopers arrived and searched for Simon. He was located and evidence showed he had jumped into the pond. He was arrested for assault and transported Calvert Memorial Hospital for treatment of possible hypothermia. He was later incarcerated in the Calvert County Detention Center.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On February 13, 2009 at 5.30 p.m., Trooper First Class Dawson stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Route 260 at Wesley Stinnett Rd. The driver, Steven Marlowe, 22, of Chesapeake Beach, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana after a search revealed Marijuana in the vehicle. He was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

POSSESSION OF FIREARM: On February 13, 2009 at 10:45 p.m., Trooper Saucerman responded to Boyles Tavern in St. Leonard for a disorderly complaint. A witness advised that Michael Purvey, 43, of St. Leonard, was in possession of a handgun and that the handgun had been tucked in his waistband. Purvey left the scene prior to the trooper's arrival. Troopers were unable to locate Purvey that night and an arrest warrant was obtained. Purvey was eventually located and arrested. He was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On February 14, 2009 at 1:10 a.m., Trooper Cavill stopped a vehicle for littering on Rousby Hall Road in Lusby. During the stop, a search of the vehicle revealed Marijuana. David Starr, 18, of Lusby, was charged with possession of marijuana and was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On February 15, 2009 at 10:00 p.m., Trooper First Class Merkelson responded to the 8100 block of Simpson Farm Rd in Owings, for a reported destruction of property. The rear passenger side window of a vehicle was shattered. The vehicle was entered and the center console opened and searched. Nothing was stolen. Two juveniles were observed in the neighborhood by several residents. Investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410)535-1400.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On February 16, 2009 at 12:25 a.m., Trooper Cavill responded to the 5800 block of Eucalyptus Drive in Lusby, for a reported destruction of property. The victim stated his mailbox had been damaged and a speed limit sign was lying in his front yard. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410)535-1400.
