St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 3, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE: On February 27, 2009 deputies responded to Valley Estate Drive in Lexington Park for a report of a fight in process. Deputy Boyer was attempting to arrest a juvenile female for disorderly conduct when Decarl Savoy Smith, 18 of Lexington Park, charged the deputies, cursing profanity and insisting they not arrest the juvenile. Smith would not comply with the deputy's orders not to hinder and back away. Smith was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA, PARAPHERNALIA: On February 27, 2009 Sgt. Walker stopped a 1992 Dodge Dakota on Three Notch Road in the area of Clover Hill Road. The operator was identified Herbert Elmar Russell, 46 of Lusby. Russell's privilege to operate a motor vehicle in Maryland was suspended. Russell was arrested for driving while suspended. Search of the vehicle incident to arrest revealed suspected marijuana and controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.

WARRANT, FALSE NAME, RESISTING: On February 27, 2009 Sgt. Walker stopped a 1992 Dodge Dakota on Three Notch Road in the area of Cherry Hill Road. Sgt. Walker believed one of the occupants of the vehicle was warranted. The front seat passenger gave a name and birth date to Sgt. Walker which was later revealed to false. Sgt. Walker conducted a wanted check and as he was waiting for a response, the passenger fled on foot. Sgt. Walker instructed the subject to stop to no avail. Further information gathered identified the subject as Izella Edgar Bush, 40 of Lexington Park. Bush had an outstanding warrant for his arrest (six counts of theft). Other police units arrived and a search of the area was conducted for Bush. The residents of a home on Clover Hill Road were contacted. Bush had contacted the residents and asked to use there phone stating he had just been involved in a motor vehicle collision. Bush was still in the residence when deputies made contact with the occupants. Bush was arrested, served with the open warrant and additionally charged with false name to a police officer and resisting arrest.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On March 1, 2009 Deputy Snyder observed Josh Alonzo Maddox, 35 of Lexington Park, walking near the construction site adjacent to IHOP in Lexington Park. Maddox was intoxicated and had fallen down. After completing a warrant check Maddox was sent on his way. Maddox started walking away but then returned. Maddox began yelling at the deputies. IHOP customers were in the parking lot observing Maddox's disorderly behavior. The deputies instructed Maddox to leave several times and told him if he did not comply he would be arrested. Maddox refused to comply was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and failing to obey a lawful order of a police officer.
