MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 23, 2009) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 4:20 pm, Devone Michael Thompson, 18, Loveville was arrested by Tpr. G. Thompson for Possession of Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Thompson was operating a gray Acura on Fox Chase Drive in Great Mills when he was stopped for an equipment violation. Upon contact with Mr. Thompson, a strong odor of Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Thompson was found to be in possession of three small baggies of marijuana. Mr. Thompson was taken into custody and transported to the St. Marys County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

SHOPLIFTING: On Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 6:53 pm, a 13 year old female juvenile, of Lusby was arrested for theft under $100.00. Tpr. M. Pitcher responded to the Belk Department Store for the reported theft under $100.00. Upon arrival, contact was made with the loss prevention officer, who advised a 13 year-old female was in custody for stealing a Silverworks necklace valued at $40.00. The necklace was located on the juvenile's person. She was released to her mother at the scene pending further action from Juvenile Services.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:53 am, Jonathan Leon Neill, 19, of Mechanicsville, was arrested by Tpr. J. Gibson for possession of Marijuana, CDS paraphernalia and prescription medications not prescribed to him. Mr. Neill was operating a red Chevrolet Tahoe on Mechanicsville Road when he was stopped in the area of Gold Lane in Mechanicsville for a routine traffic violation. Upon contact with Mr. Neill, a strong odor of burnt Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath. Mr. Neil was arrested for DUI. A search incident to arrest revealed a CDS smoking device, a clear plastic bag of Marijuana, a Hydrocodone capsule, a 3" white straw with Cocaine, a pill bottle containing four Drivocet capsules and three Cybalta capsules located in the vehicle. Mr. Neill was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ATV THEFT: On Friday, March 20, 2009 at 7:27 pm, Tpr. E. Page responded to 39000 Cooney Neck Road in Mechanicsville for a reported theft over $500.00. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant, 41, of Mechanicsville, who advised unknown suspects had stolen a 2007 yellow with a blue frame Suzuki 250 LT All Terrain Vehicle from the carport of his residence. The value of the ATV is $4,000.00. Neighborhood checks were conducted and the ATV was entered into NCIC. The investigation continues.

BENCH WARRANT, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 6:28 pm, Gary Alan Young, 50, of Hollywood was arrested by TFC M. Adams for possession of cocaine, marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. TFC Adams responded to the 43000 block of Life Long Landing Road in Hollywood in an attempt to locate Mr. Young for an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13859) for Violation of Probation. The original charge was Driving Impaired by Alcohol. Mr. Young was located at the residence and taken into custody for the warrant. A search incident to arrest revealed he was in possession of a small baggie of Cocaine, a small baggie of Marijuana and a multi-colored glass CDS smoking device. Mr. Young was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

VANDALISM: On Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 7:09 am, Tpr. E. Page responded to the 21000 block of Starboard Court in Lexington Park for the reported malicious destruction of property to a black 2006 Pontiac G6. Te vehicle was parked at River Bay Townhomes when unknown suspects keyed the vehicle between 5:00 pm, March 15, 2009 and 1:00 pm on March 16, 2009. The vehicle was scratched on the exterior of the vehicle and the investigation continues.

BENCH WARRANT: On Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 9:30 pm, Dwayne Russell Moore, 24, of Sunderland was arrested by Tpr. M. Pitcher on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13863) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on March 17, 2009. The original charge was Driving on a Suspended License. Mr. Moore was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

BENCH WARRANT: On Friday, March 20, 2009 at 6:53 pm, Donald Alan Johnson, 24, of Kingsville, MD was arrested by Tpr. G. Thompson on an outstanding Baltimore County District Court Bench Warrant (T313870) for Failing to Appear in District Court on January 20, 2009. The original charges were Malicious Destruction of Property under $500.00 and Theft under $100.00. Mr. Johnson was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

CIRCUIT COURT WARRANT: On Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 12:59 pm, Joan Elizabeth Baker, 39, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC M. Moore on an outstanding Circuit Court Warrant (T3-13855). The original charges were Reckless Driving and Driving on a Revoked License. Ms. Baker was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
